Drew attended Monash University in Melbourne where he studied for a Bachelor of Business and Commerce at with a double major in Business Law and International Business. However in 2006, two semesters before graduating he was offered a job with New York based financial-tech firm Options-IT.

Options-IT is a specialized tech company that provides cloud computing capabilities to various financial firms, specifically hedge funds. Drew’s role at Options was largely technical, with many hours spent in large scale data-centers managing all sort of enterprise grade networking hardware. When not in the data center he was out liaising with clients to ensure that their trading applications and hardware were performing as required.

However, having an office with no windows in the IBM building in Midtown wasn’t nearly as exciting as what Drew’s twin brother Rick had going on in their hometown of Melbourne. Rick had partnered with a friend (David Keating) and started a small snow, skate and surf focused magazine. It wasn’t long before Drew had resigned from the corporate life and had taken a job with Rick in what was called Pop Magazine. With the extra help, it soon became the largest snow, surf and skate magazine in the country and would change the landscape for alternative sports magazines in the country.

It was with Pop that Drew honed his management and design skills. In the pressure cooker environment of a startup company with three employee’s Drew had to learn many skills on the job and never say never. Together the two brothers learned the ins and outs of Adobe Creative suite and the intricacies of producing a nationwide print magazine. It is here that both Drew skilled in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign. Seeing the writing on the wall for the print industry Pop diversified early into online, being the first to market with an online business model in the surf, skate and snow print market in Australia. Rick & Drew’s tech skills paid dividends and soon Pop’s website was the most visited site in their respective market.

Continuing to set the bar even higher, in 2007 Pop begun production of the countries highest budgeted snow-sports focused documentary. It was called Two Weeks In and was a major success for the two brothers and their small company.

Then in late 2008 Drew interviewed successful film and television producer Gene Kelly. Soon the two were collaborating on a project and Drew had moved to Los Angeles to develop a show around professional surfing.
